Three Types of Bristles - Three Different Brushes
All have tubular brass handles, but the industrial grade bristle materials were chosen for three different tasks -
Stainless Steel Bristle Brushes
The SS for Alloy brushes are for surface refinishing of bare aluminium alloy
They remove firmly baked on deposits and corrosion from alloy without
leaving unsightly scratches or obliterating extremely fine detail and original texture
Excellent for producing a lustrous well cared for look on neglected alloy, the fine bristle tips
get right into the tiny pits and depressions in the surface. The mode
of action is end-on agitation
The smaller sizes enable alloy refinishing to be accomplished quickly and easily even in deep spaces such as between the fins to expose bare metal on cylinder walls and around exhaust ports
Suitable for use on any type of alloy surface which is not polished or anodised
These brushes have achieved impressive Street Credentials
from respected motorcycle restoration experts and professional
workshops
Even more pleasing is they have become trusted tools of DIY
motorcycle enthusiasts worldwide. See ~ Street Cred ~
During
mechanical repairs they are invaluable for removing firm residue, old
sealant, threadlocking material and carbon buildup from intricate
shapes such as internal and external threads and splines, gear cogs,
and the tricky spots of combustion chambers, exhaust ports, piston crowns.

Nylon Bristle Brushes
![]() Four sizes with Nylon bristles |
The Nylon bristles are for removing soft deposits from alloy, and for any cleaning job where the curled up rag or toothbrush won't go. They may be used dry when dusting, or with the usual cleaning detergents and degreasers for more stubborn dried muck and roadgrime. Concours vintage alloy can be freshened up without disturbing the patina. The Nylon bristles work well with metal polishes and waxes in liquid, cream or paste form. Click here for |

Stainless Steel For Steel or Cast Iron
NOT
for use on alloy. The SS for Steel brush is for the serious restorer
only and will remove old paint and rust, fillers, etc. from steel and
cast iron in the tight spots missed by other types of hand brushes or rotary power tools. Although small, this very tough bristle brush also comes in handy for big jobs, such as cleaning up welds before priming.
Available in Size C only.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which brush/s do I need ? ?
To determine which brush/s you require note the handles sizes are in fractions of an inch just like a drill bit set. Try poking with various drill bits in places you would love to be able to clean properly.
Is there a recommended set suitable for my 'bike ? ?
A whole motor can be refinished with just a size A but the work will be
slow and tedious over large areas where a size D should be used, but size
D won't get into the tight spots.
With a complete set of the SS for
Alloy brushes any motorcycle alloy refinishing job can be tackled easily
The four Nylons allow for thorough cleaning all over your motorcycle.

DO NOT USE STEEL BRISTLE BRUSHES WITH FLAMMABLE SOLVENTS-
Steel bristles
produce sparks which will ignite volatile solvents or vapours.
You are advised to wear eye protection when using the brush as fine particles or solvent droplets can be propelled from the work area at high speed
Do not use near live electrical cables or terminals. Do not use near hot engine or machinery parts
All brushes may be boiled or autoclaved, but must be allowed to cool before use
For hand use only. Not to be mounted in power drills.
