Not registered since 2022. Ready to pass NSW Blue Slip
$5,000 as is
If buyer wants Blue Slip to be obtained prior to sale reasonable costs or efforts e.g. transport to Safety Inspection will need to be negotiated
In 2006 I realised my 1972 Ducati 750 GT had become far too precious to be my regular ride and wanted something more suitable for long rides and going shopping, a 'bike that could be easily repaired if damaged and more importantly could be parked anywhere without me worrying about it being "keyed", tampered with or stolen
As a Foundation Member and active participant in the Ducati Owners Club of Victoria I was quite well connected with the Ducati community and put out feelers for a "pre-loved, somewhat banged-up" post 2000 fuel injected Monster. The general consensus was such a 'bike didn't exist as Monster owners tended to look after their steeds
In October the owner of Moto One, a Melbourne dealer of Ducati and several other brands, contacted me and out the back of his showroom was a sad looking unregistered Monster he had bought at auction with 20,000 km on the clock. Cosmetically it was a mess with lots of dents, dings and scratches and scrapes, some parts missing, but the motor started and sounded OK. We agreed on a price if it could brought to a Roadworthy and registerable state. Brad Black (Brad the Bike Boy) was their Ducati mechanic and he performed a full service and whatever was necessary to resurrect the Monster and on 2nd November 2006 I rode it to the RTA and had it registered
Since then it has done some 29,000 trouble-free kms, mainly long rides and has been maintained and regularly serviced by yours truly
In 2007 I acquired an interest in a NSW Southern Highlands property and did frequent rides from Melbourne and back, then moved from Melbourne to the property in 2016 when the Monster was reregistered in NSW. NSW requires annual Safety Inspections (the equivalent of Victoria's Roadworthy Check) and it has passed every year
In 2022 the registration was not renewed as for various reasons I was not able to ride regularly and the Monster has been in storage
A centrestand from a Ducati ST2 was fitted almost immediately - a centrestand is a necessity for a motorcycle in my opinion
Although the Monster has a 6 speed gearbox I was wanting 7th on the highway so changed the standard 41 tooth rear sprocket for a 39 tooth, much more suitable at highway speeds
Originally the headlight was hardwired to be always on. A switch on the handlebar allows to headlight to be on or off
Bar end mirrors replaced the original "Mickey Mouse Ears" which will be included
The 'bike came with Staintune mufflers (one is pre-dented) with removable baffles. A pair of standard Monster mufflers are included in the sale - in case there is a problem with loudness
New camshaft belts fitted
Owners manual, two keys, Ducati tag and holder if new keys need to be cut
Original mufflers and mirrors
Some receipts and notes about aftermarket replacement parts
Printed information gleaned from various internet forums about fettling this model Monster, printed colour wiring diagram, etc.
